Menuhin denies movie rights sold to best-seller ‘Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil’

Although Gerard Menuhin denies that movie rights have been sold to his 2015 international best-seller ‘Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil’, rumours continue to circulate on this subject.

Based on a true story, Tell the Truth follows the trail of international criminals over centuries. Roles are planned for such varied stars as Russian ‘weird’ singer Chum Drum Bedrum and Lawrence Olivier (resurrected for the occasion).

Menuhin defends himself against the accusation that his book is biographical. He says ‘None of the characters are real, except where they actually existed, and none of the incidents are real, except in the sense that they actually happened. It was all true in my imagination.’ He insists ‘My book may be based on a true story, but so much that is true is equally untrue, when you start to think about it. For instance, some people claim that history is real, others that it’s fake news. You have to ask yourself: What’s truth, when it’s at home?’

This riddle will certainly follow us all to the grave, or at least half-way there.
